  1. Value for Money

In these times of rising costs it is all the more crucial to invest wisely in a good quality instrument. One of the major advantages in purchasing a re-conditioned clarinet as against a new clarinet, is value: For the same amount of money, or less, you will be able to afford a much better instrument. This has the added advantage of avoiding depreciation [ which is always heavy on a new clarinet]  if the time comes to sell.

Because we are a web based business, and do not have commercial premises with associated costs, we are able to pass on substantial savings to our customers. Typically our prices for reconditioned instruments are the same or lower than for the same instrument bought used in un-refurbished condition from other dealers.

There is also a strong ecological argument for buying a refurbished clarinet: Wood stocks are finite and under great pressure. Most of the cost of a new clarinet is bound up in the labour and energy costs.

  2. Warranty

The vast majority of our instruments are sold after a complete and thorough re-condition. This often involves more than a full overhaul. Our aim is to bring the instrument “back” as far as possible to the condition it was in when new. We use only the finest pads: cork and Pisoni Premium Deluxe, in Double Bladder Fish Skin, Tan or White leather.

Our commission sales instruments will have at least a check up in the workshop prior to sale.

Some other web based businesses can sell cheaply by sourcing new instruments directly from the factory.  However as they tend to save costs by not employing technicians to check over the instruments for faulty pads seating and the like, which occurs even with the most reputable French makes, the instrument will often need a trip to a repairman before it will play. In addition they will have not even seen, let alone play tested the clarinet before they sell it. They will also sell with no warranty or guarantees, other than other than the manufacturer’s 12 months guarantee against splitting wood.

 3. Return Policy

A good quality instrument is a major purchase. You could gamble on buying fom a private individual, selling as seen, who may not have the expertise to correctly assess the faults in the instrument they are selling, or who may deliberately misrepresent their instrument, secure in the knowledge that there will be no repercussion in the event of a dissatisfied purchaser. Even if the clarinet is structurally sound there are often hidden costs: It will probably need, or shortly need, re-padding or other work.

We sell our instruments with “brand new” m’pieces or good condition, sanitised used examples. Our descriptions are clear and accurate on these important details. In addition with Clarinets Direct there is always an approval period on all sales, commission, as well as our own instruments. We rely on our reputation and on our satisfied clients. The quality of service we deliver has seen the business grow over the last 5 years to one of the largest web based used clarinet dealerships.

4. Quality Instruments.

Clarinets Direct makes a point of only handling fine quality instruments. We will not deal in [until such time as quality control and build improves] Chinese made or sourced products. NB Many dealers are now selling such instruments, often under their own UK and USA brand names, as entry level instruments. Never has there been such a convincing reason to buy a second hand quality instrument for about the same cost as one of these new!
